Becoming a B Corp is a powerful way to show an organisation’s commitment to meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability, and aspire to use the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems.
Recertification is a process that certified B Corps undergo every three years to demonstrate their continued adherence to rigorous social and environmental performance standards, accountability, and transparency. It’s also an opportunity to improve on points, maximise value of certification, and identify newer areas for improvement.
Recertification reaffirms a company’s ongoing commitment to using business as a force for good, benefiting society, the environment, and its stakeholders. Without going through recertification every 3 years, businesses risk losing their B Corp certification.
The duration varies depending on the size and complexity of the organisation. On average, it takes about 3 to 6 months to complete. Importantly, businesses need to submit for recertification 6 months before their recertification due date.
