As Australia’s largest team of B Consultants, we have guided multiple organisations through the recertification journey. Our expertise ensures you not only meet but exceed the highest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, enhancing your business operations and supply chain practices.
Becoming a B Corp is a powerful way to show an organisation’s commitment to meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability, and aspire to use the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems.
Recertification is a process that certified B Corps undergo every three years to demonstrate their continued adherence to rigorous social and environmental performance standards, accountability, and transparency. It’s also an opportunity to improve on points, maximise value of certification, and identify newer areas for improvement.
Recertification protects the integrity and value of B Corp certification. It shows stakeholders that your organisation continues to meet B Lab’s requirements, is adapting to the new standards, and is committed to measurable social, environmental, and governance performance. Under the new pathway, certification is designed around a phased five year cycle, with Year 0, Year 3, and Year 5 requirements that support continuous improvement over time.
Timing depends on your organisation’s size, complexity, scope, maturity, and evidence readiness. As a practical guide, allow up to 12 months for preparation, gap closure, evidence development, and audit readiness. We recommend starting at least 18 months before your current recertification due date, especially where policies, governance, climate action, human rights due diligence, supply chain processes, or other requirements need to be implemented and evidenced before submission.
Recertification is a vital part of the B Corp journey, ensuring that certified organisations continue to meet and exceed the high standards established during the B Corp certification process. It allows your business to reassess its social and environmental performance through an updated B Impact Assessment and demonstrate ongoing accountability. Recertification reinforces your organisation’s role within the broader B Corp movement, showcasing your long-term commitment to ethical leadership, continuous improvement, and meaningful participation in the global B Corp community.
Our team provides ongoing support beyond achieving recertification. We help your organisation embed a culture of continuous improvement by integrating sustainable business practices, stakeholder feedback, and ESG performance tracking into everyday operations. This proactive approach ensures your business not only maintains its certification but continues to strengthen its leadership within the B Corp community.
